Annual Conference
An annual winter conference brings together trustees, commissioners, chief officers, administrative staff, and pension board members to exchange ideas and attend educational programs. Sessions cover topics such as tax levies, budgets, legal updates, labor contracts, investing, and fiduciary duties-benefiting both volunteer and paid fire districts. Trustees can earn over three CEU hours required for Advanced Trustee certification, and pension board members can earn up to 16 CEUs by attending the full event.


Annual Fall Seminar
The annual fall seminar is held in October and is hosted by the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District. Trustees earn three CE hours which is required annually for those trustees who have completed the 3 part Essential Trustee Training Program. Pension Board members can earn 3 CE hours for attending.
Fire Service Legislative Day
Hosted by the NIAFPD in conjunction with the IAFPD, the IFCA, and various other Illinois fire service organizations this annual event brings together trustees, fire chiefs and legislators from throughout the state to discuss issues in a relaxed social setting. Our collective goal is to share a common theme amongst the three fire service organizations and to promote fair legislation on our behalf. This event is held in Springfield in the spring.

Membership Meetings
NIAFPD membership meetings are held in conjunction with the annual conference and annual fall seminar. During the conference the membership meeting is held on Saturday morning.

Congressional Fire Service Washington DC
The NIAFPD is a member of the Illinois Fire Services Association and participates in the Annual Legislative Summit. At the summit proposed legislation agreed by all members is passed onto the Illinois Fire Caucus for legislative consideration.
